Technical sales consultant

This is a Full-time position in Chicago, IL posted November 6, 2019.

Technical Consultants use experience and knowledge of content distribution and IP Video to enable Telco, Cable Operators and Content Providers to build their own Video solutions including Content Delivery Networks (CDN), Cloud DVR (cDVR) video solutions and Personalisation systems.Video Product Consultants lead the technical engagement with the customer until contracting and therefore have to rely on solid technical knowledge and consulting selling style to support the sales opportunities.

Technical Consultants are passionate about building long-term relationships and collaborating with clients to understanding the needs and technical challenges of their businesses.In support of Sales, Technical Consultants must be persuasive in their presentations and persistent in pursuing leads. Technical Consultants are the bridge between the customer’s vision, the product teams, and the professional services teams delivering on that vision.Possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills, a keen understanding of networks and the video ecosystem, and possesses an ever-curious nature and desire to learn.

Technical Consultants rely on problem-solving acumen to analyze customer needs and to propose and design innovative solutions that drive customer success.

Work Experience :5+ years of solution delivery experience with progressively responsible positions: Including experience as a product manager, sales engineer or solutions architect.Experience of the entire solution lifecycle, from product management, technical pre-sales, solution architecture, deployment, and ultimately to post-sales support.Extensive cross-departmental communication experience, with a strong business/commercial focus, able to leverage other technical experts for complex projects and situations.Skilled at addressing all phases and aspects of a customer’s content strategy.Participate in internal projects that help scale the group, implement best practices, share lessons learned, and improve our methodologies and quality of integrations.Main responsibility areas:Educate customers on Velocix Products, including Velocix CDN, cDVR and Personalisation platforms.Understand customer requirements and articulate the business value of Velocix solutions.Lead the technical engagement with customers:Including workshops, trials, solution descriptions, and RFx responses.Be the primary technical interface to customers, capturing input for new features and designs based on customer-specific requirements.Cross-department communication and acting as SPOC (Single Point of Contact) to drive complex opportunities internally. Capable of reviewing business requirements and combining them with technical expertise both independently and in a team environment.Key Competencies: Expertise to architect the optimal solution for the unique business and technical requirements of our customers.Able to communicate clearly and effectively to both business and technical level audiences.Candidate should be experienced with caching, streaming formats and protocols.Knowledge of media players, advertising, IPTV, OTT, HTTP, DNS, IP NetworkingKnowledge of cloud technologiesStrong business acumenOpen communicator, able to clearly articulate thoughts and respectfully challenge those of others.Strategic thinker, able to understand the requirements of different stakeholders, and then set clear direction for, and focus the thinking of others.Work independently, and as part of a small team, to support the sales teams and help customers evaluate their required architecture and delivery plans, including trials and production deployment.
