Manufacturing Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY This Manufacturing Supervisor role is located in Auburn, IL and is responsible for planning and directing the activities of a production team.

The Manufacturing Supervisor provides direction, coaching and development opportunities for team personnel.

This position is responsible for driving continuous improvement to improve safety, quality, delivery, employee engagement and ultimately reduce costs.

Prepare work schedules, assign work and oversee the output of team members in assigned area.

Identify, troubleshoot and resolve bottlenecks, process failures, incomplete or outdated procedures, staffing issues, supply chain problems, and/or training deficiencies.

Develop and support a team based approach through daily communications meetings, working cross functionally and reinforcing overall company objectives.

Develop and monitor key metrics to assess productivity and cost management.

Monitor production schedules and deadlines to support on time deliveries.

Organize and facilitate continuous improvement projects and production support activities as part of a cross functional work team.

Act as lean manufacturing champion within value stream and implement lean concepts to eliminate waste.

Participate in ISO training and promote ISO department compliance.

Work with Management to establish goals and objectives for the team in alignment with company strategic goals.

Set and communicate goals and objectives for employees.

Monitor performance and give recognition and take corrective action when necessary.

Conduct performance reviews in a timely manner for all members of the department.

Identify cross training opportunities and implement wherever possible to expand employee skills and flexibility.

Coach and develop all employees as opportunities present themselves.

Seek coaching moments and offer assistance or suggestions whenever possible and appropriate.

Utilize quality management techniques for problem solving, corrective action and process decisions.

Proactively develop, implement and support systems to achieve cost reductions, quality improvements, productivity increases and service improvements.

Research, justify, procure and implement new technology to maximize the production areas effectiveness and profitability.

Develop staffing plan.

Interview and hire new regular and temporary employees.

Schedule necessary training and facilitate new hire orientation.

Participate in the development of operating budget.

Maintain expenses to approved plan, or provide justification for supplemental expenditures as required.

Must work well with others.

Follow all safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for managing personnel in an assigned area of operations.

Act as the first point of contact for employee issues related to work direction, product, or process quality and training issues Recruit, hire, and retain high performing team.

Define employee objectives, conduct performance reviews, and recommend salary adjustments.

Meet all assigned performance objectives.

Coach and mentor direct reports.

Define and execute required training programs to address product, application, process, and technology training needs.

Mentor new employees with their transition into the company.

Work with peers in management to drive the execution of continuous improvement projects.

QUALIFICATIONS Education Bachelor’s degree required.

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field desired.

Experience Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment required.

Experience with direct supervision of employees.

Experience with SAP or other ERP system.

Experience implementing best practices in a production environment.

KNOWLEDGE Lean manufacturing practices Employee relations and supervision Policy and process development and continuous improvement in a manufacturing setting ERP/MRP and scheduling systems Manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures Effective leadership concepts EQUIPMENT TO BE USED Must be able to: Use standard office equipment such as copier, fax, telephone, postage, etc.

Operate computer and other electronic equipment WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work is typically performed in a standard production setting working at a desk, table or workstation.

Air quality and noise levels are within normal limits.

Eye protection is required when on the production floor.

Under normal conditions, exposure to excessive noise, dust, humidity, and fumes is rare.

Individual may be required to work more hours than normally expected during a regular work week depending on workload and deadline requirements.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.

to 3:30 p.m.

May require OT or weekend work.
