Maintenance Manager

JOB OVERVIEW: The Maintenance Manager, a key member of the plant leadership team, has responsibility to enhance equipment reliability by improving workflows and optimizing maintenance processes using Lean practices and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodology. This position is the link between operations, engineering and the maintenance organization to provide input to improve equipment design, reliability and maintainability. Additional responsibilities include facility and utility maintenance and the execution of capital projects which include research, planning, procurement and commissioning of assets and improvements as needed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provides technical leadership for the successful support and operation of the facility?s existing and new manufacturing processes, packaging, material handling and control systems.* Directs the coordination of activities of the Maintenance Department including, but not exclusive to, the reliable and rapid repair of break downs to direct and ancillary mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.

Directly responsible for planned maintenance pillar activities and leadership.* Directs maintenance team in repair of machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and timely completion of planned maintenance activities. Responsible for establishing Daily Direction Setting priorities, coordination of mechanics, execution of follow up and planned work.* Manages the development, implementation and maintenance of programs related to PM (preventative maintenance), PdM (predictive maintenance) and root cause analysis. Focuses on engaging mechanics in proactive work that will improve line predictability/stability* Develops 30-40 supervisors and hourly employees through coaching, mentoring and training for growth and advancement while fostering a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and continuous improvement. Supporting team on 24/7 basis. Administers collective bargaining agreements is an equitable manner.* Responsible for developing planned maintenance strategies that support safety, people engagement, quality, cost, reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.

Monitor metrics, develop plans, and proposes solutions for improvement* Sets and continually manages project expectations with team members and other stakeholders. Manages the departmental financial budget $5+ Million.* Communicate metrics for maintenance and reliability activities.

Owns and drives improvement around planned and unplanned downtime, # breakdowns, MTBF & MTTR metrics for their lines and builds ownership of these systems down to the team over time.

(TPM and autonomous maintenance)* Supports Planned Maintenance Pillar, System and Tools implementation (TPM)* Develop a 3-year strategic plan to drive sustainable KPI improvement through people, process and equipment* Partner with HR to develop training plans (group & individual) to address skill & knowledge gaps* Proactively reviews resource allocation and skill sets to ensure adequate staffing and support for the operation with clear expectation of customer service being a priority.* Uses Lean and RCM concepts to optimize work processes, adapt maintenance tools and procedures to improve equipment utilization and reliability.* Ensures spare parts storeroom functions efficiently to support the needs of the plant.* Writes capital requests and manages essential replacement projects.* Supports Manager in planning for equipment and maintenance resources and addressing necessary shortfalls in skill sets.

Support Systems and Equipment Ownership capability development* Supports and maintains the plants HACCP plan and all Food Safety & Security policies and procedures. The backup for this position?s responsibility are the Maintenance Supervisors.* Performs any other duties as required or as assigned by the Manager.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: ?

* Bachelor?s degree in technical or related field, or equivalent work experience.* Minimum of 10-15 years in high speed food or CPG manufacturing within a maintenance leadership role, and a minimum of 5 years as a Maintenance Manager within a large, high speed food or CPG manufacturing plant* Must have autonomous maintenance experience /TPM PILLAR EXPERIENCE* Excellent leadership skills, progressive, hands on leadership, coaching, mentoring, within a union environment* Experience with hands on lean six sigma projects or implementation within a food/CPG Mfg Plant* Must have experience leading a large team within a high speed automated plant setting

– ability to lead through culture change within a plant environment* Strong negotiating, oral and written communication, and cost management skills.* Individual must possess strong leadership, organization, and planning abilities.* Strong supervisory skills, a background in union environments, and proven customer service abilities.* Must have strong analytical and problem solving abilities to accommodate a quick paced environment (a quick thinker).* Strategic thinker capable of leading a cultural change* Someone who is passionate and dedicated to results, accomplishments, and courage to do what is necessary to implement change, servant leadership focus yet firm* Excellent background in culture change and motivated to achieve the company goals just as much as their own personal career goals.* Working knowledge of MRO inventory management and procurement processes.

Interpersonal Skills along with Problem solving and Decision Making are key components to the success of this role.* Requires PC skills including MS Office products, e-mail, and CMMS. Functional experience in use of AutoCAD, Inventor or Solid Works. In-depth knowledge of packaging equipment is desired. SAP experience a plus.* Certification in Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing is desired.
