Engineering Manager


This is a Full-time position in Mapleton, IL posted May 3, 2021.

Ingredion is hiring a Engineering and Reliability Manager responsible for both deployment of the capital program and adherence to a comprehensive maintenance/reliability program.

Capital program ownership will involve all aspects of the project lifecycle: from identification and justification, through design and implementation.

Reliability program ownership will focus on optimizing the plants existing equipment base, for both productivity and cost-effective operation, through execution of proactive maintenance plans and tasks.

Provide direct leadership for engineering and maintenance personnel and provide functional leadership and support to the site.

As an Engineering and Reliability Manager , your responsibilities will include:

Establishing and maintaining safe work practices and environmental compliance.

Contributing to the achievement of plant safety goals.

Ensuring safe completion of all corrective, preventive, and capital project work and maintaining safe working conditions throughout the plant.

Owning Capital Project Program.

Ensuring identification and execution of capital project work within time, cost, and performance constraints.

Creating and executing the long-term strategic maintenance agenda based on criticality assessment.

Owning the plant maintenance budget and spending performance.

Executing against plant maintenance programs to ensuring consistent delivery of production and quality performance goals.

Supervising the plant maintenance activities to deliver on cost control expectations.

Leading Reliability Excellence implementation to ensure continuous improvement in asset utilization.

Identifying and implementing creative, innovative technological solutions.

Conducting analyses of usage rates and equipment criticality to support reliability excellence

Evaluating and deploying effective equipment maintenance strategies based on corporate standards, OEM recommendations, and relevant performance data.

Bestowing technical support to all departments including process studies, troubleshooting, process optimization, and historical data analysis to identify, monitor and control key operating parameters.

Driving the continuous improvement of maintenance systems through the effective use of KPIs and feedback from preventative maintenance, condition monitoring, and lubrication.

Leading reliability data analysis efforts.

Running the spare parts storeroom.

Ensuring complete and accurate equipment and spare parts data.

Overseeing core maintenance contractors working in the plant.

Manage outside contract teams for proper execution of maintenance activities and assigned project work.

Owning Design for Reliability through Management of Change (MOC) process for project execution.

Conducting FMEAs (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) and participating in life cycle costing to assure the data is representative of current and future known practices.

Facilitating and supporting root cause problem elimination (RCPE) sessions.

Coaching and mentoring employees to enhance proactive approach to asset reliability and equipment challenges.

Managing maintenance planning activities for the plant, including identifying safety requirements, estimating time/manpower requirements, setting tasks, identifying materials and tools, writing technical information which may include Management of Change (MOC).

Planning maintenance activities to an appropriate level of detail required for execution and identification of critical paths.

The Engineering and Reliability Manager position is well-suited for you if you have:

Knowledge of continuous chemical or food plant operations, a plus.

Supervisory experience with demonstrated proficiency in effectively managing relationships and accomplishing tasks through indirect reports.

Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning including shut downs and the creation of job plans for a manufacturing environment including food, pharmaceutical, or refinery industries.

Demonstrated ability to successfully manage all engineering activities including multiple capital projects and permits in a plant environment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong planning, organizing, and time management skills.

Proficiency in setting priorities and executing multiple assignments in a timely manner.

Capacity to solve problems through creative, innovative solutions and challenge traditional methods of accomplishing tasks.

Use of KPIs for decision making and corrective action.

Experience in creating and adhering to department budget.

Ability to conduct effective meetings.

Experience using Lean Six Sigma tools, conducting Root Cause Problem Elimination Analysis, and 5S, a plus.

Demonstrated ability to coach others to improved performance, leading through influence to achieve desired outcomes.

Must be able to move about in the processing areas and be able to climb stairs, ladders and enter tanks.

Must possess visual acuity and physical ability to support all functions of the job at all times.

Ability to learn and apply Ingredions Safety, GMP, and Quality standards.

Maintain an atmosphere of teamwork and joint accountability with the production units, recognizing mutual goals, accountabilities, and needs as well as build consensus in a positive manner with customers and team members.

Qualified candidates will have:

Bachelors Degree in Engineering and 5-7 years of experience.

Experience managing/coordinating maintenance activities.

Knowledge of SAP or other CMMS system as it pertains to maintenance and operations, a plus.

Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office Software applications (i.e.

Excel, Word, etc.).

Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

Proficiency in setting priorities and executing multiple assignments in a timely manner.

Capacity to solve problems through creative, innovative solutions and challenge traditional methods of accomplishing tasks.

Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) a plus.

Demonstrated skill in use of data for decision making and corrective action.
