Full-time, 40 hours per week, day shift M-F 7a-3:30p, mandatory call
Position Requirements:
If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.
Purpose:
The scrub person maintains aseptic technique throughout the operative procedure, anticipating and supplying the surgical team with sterile supplies and instruments Assist the surgeon by passing/preparing needed supplies, instruments and equipment. The Surgical Technician maintains the integrity, safety, and efficiency of the sterile field throughout the surgical procedure. The scrub technician shall remain scrubbed in at all times while the patient is in the room. If the setup is completed and all counts are done and there is a delay in the case over 10 minutes, the scrub technician may break scrub and assist the circulator if approved by the RN circulator responsible for the OR.

To assist in providing quality patient care in a manner which is patient~focused, technically appropriate, and cost effective. The Surgical Technologist (ST) works under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in accordance with the Standards of Practice and within the guidelines of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act. The ST is responsible for establishing and maintaining a sterile field, a safe patient care environment, and appropriate supplies/equipment as required for the operative procedure. The ST functions as a cooperative health care team member in a critical care environment treating the patient in a holistic manner with dignity and respect.
