Agios has two approved oncology precision medicines and multiple first-in-class investigational therapies in clinical and/or preclinical development.

nn nn Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a dynamic Senior Scientist to join our growing Translational Medicine team.

The Senior Scientist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and executing the Translational Medicine strategies to inform patient stratification/selection, pharmacodynamics, and mechanism of action in support of the progression of Agios’ pipeline candidates from late preclinical development through all stages of clinical development.

nn nn The successful candidate is expected to work in a highly matrixed cross-functional environment and drive scientific and technical innovation collaboratively with other members of the Translational Medicine, as well as with groups across both clinical development and discovery research.

nn nn This is a key role that bridges the science and technical aspects of Translational Medicine strategy with operational aspects in order to execute on clinical studies and enable Agios’ precision medicine approach.

nn nn Key Responsibilities nn Develop and lead translational biomarker strategy, incorporating the latest research findings and leveraging cutting-edge technologies.

Establish decision-making criteria for development programs.

Oversee tactical implementation and execution of clinical biomarkers for patient stratification, enrichment and identification, pharmacodynamics, and mechanism of action in support of advancing candidate asset(s) from pre-clinical development to early-stage clinical development.

Partner closely with Clinical Operations, Biostats/data management, and Data Science to ensure clinical sample collection, analyses and data acquisition are valid and compliant.

Direct and oversee the outsourcing and validation of clinically applicable biomarker assays.

Generate/review biomarker data and summary of study findings and contribute to clinical documents such as protocols, investigator brochures and regulatory submissions.

Drive the publication of Translational Medicine data in high-quality scientific, technical or medical journals.

Ensure effective, cross functional interactions and collaborations across the different functional areas that relate to Biomarker discovery and development.

PhD in cancer biology, molecular biology, genomics or related discipline with a minimum of 3-5 years post-doctoral experience in industry/academic setting, preferably in industry setting with knowledge and experience in clinical trials Demonstrated record of scientific leadership as evidenced by first and/or senior authored publications in top-tier journals Outstanding presentation and communication skills Successful demonstration of initiative, teamwork, collaboration, and technical expertise as a independent and creative scientist nn Preferred Qualifications nn Experience in cancer immunotherapy, single cell genomics, cancer biology, translational science, biomarker development, and strong data analysis skills Experience in clinical trial operations and logistics for biomarker speciments Experience in clinical study design and clinical drug development Experience implementing and executing a broad array of biomarker platforms and technologies to support clinical-stage programs n n
