  nn nn About the Chromatin Regulatory System   nn nn The chromatin regulatory system regulates gene expression by directing the movement of molecules that turn genes on and off.

Disease dependencies associated with the chromatin regulatory system are estimated to impact over 2.5 million cancer patients across the United States,  Europe and Japan.

We are seeking a highly motivated, creative and collaborative researcher to join our Medicinal Chemistry team to advance early and late-stage preclinical projects in oncology.

nn nn Job Summary nn nn As a Senior/Principal Scientist in the Medicinal Chemistry team at Foghorn Therapeutics, you will contribute to the advancement of medicines in multidisciplinary project teams from early discovery to delivery of drug candidates.

You will be responsible for driving the design and synthesis of target molecules and analyze diverse data sets through the application of contemporary design and analysis tools.

In this role, you will be interacting with team members from other disciplines such as biology, drug discovery and DMPK.

Excellent communications skills are crucial to advance the science and drive toward decision points.

nn nn n Key Responsibilities nn Analyze complex data sets and develop SAR using in-house and commercial in silico tools and communicate results in formal and informal settings Proactively seek input from computational chemistry and collaboratively work through iterative design processes to generate novel design ideas Partner with enabling functions such as protein sciences, crystallography, biophysics, biomolecular sciencesand DMPK to ensure the alignment of chemistry efforts to deliver drug candidates within organizational timelines and goals Design, plan and safely execute multi-step organic synthesis and purification of high-quality target molecule and solve synthetic chemistry challenges to enable novel target space Partner with CROs to enable timely delivery of target compounds Assist in the preparation of patents, publications, and project planning nn Qualifications nn Doctorate level degree in chemistry, or equivalent industry experience Extensive knowledge of medicinal chemistry concepts and design tools required in contemporary pharmaceutical drug discovery; Analysis of complex and uncertain datasets, significant experience of independent synthetic route design and problem solving, novel design ideas and multi-parameter optimization concepts Proven ability to work well with others in a dynamic and highly collaborative, fast paced environment that requires quick adaptability to changing priorities Strong evidence of conceptual thinking, active follow-through and vigorous scientific curiosity within and beyond medicinal chemistry Proactive sharing of expertise and ideas, flexibility and open-mindedness ‘Can do’ attitude, strong work ethic and motivation in the face of significant challenge n n
