Safety Tech – Metropolis, IL

Turner Industries Group is looking for an experienced Safety Tech for full time maintenance position in Metropolis, IL. This position will assist in the administration and overall supervision of project safety and accident and fire protection programs to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. 40 Hours-NO PER DIEM Overtime as needed 3 to 5 years experience minimum Power Point, Excel, Outlook Must be able to pass drug screen Must have valid drivers license NO per diem or relocation available for this position; the successful candidate will be a current resident in/near the area. Functional Requirements: Conducts regular walk through inspections of construction areas; identifies, documents and recommends resolutions of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions and follows through to ensure that corrections have been made; documents and investigates all accidents, safety violations and other unsafe conditions or activities; compiles data, photographs, etc. and prepares all pertinent forms and reports according to corporate procedures and federal, state and local regulations associated with accidents; issues various entry permits (i.e. to confined spaces) as required; assists in emergency rescues as required; assists in maintaining fire protection and grounding systems; assists in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interfacing with training programs. Qualification Standards: Technical training and/or industrial related safety experience OSHA approved corrective eye wear (Z87) Job site safety requirements (Turner FR Jumpsuit, steel toe boots, etc.) Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.) Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others at the work place Physical Involvement: May be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing; walking; pushing; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction. Mental Involvement: May be required to do the following; following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; following oral/or written directions; knowledge of federal, state and corporate safety standards and regulations; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards etc.; standing; walking; pushing; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction.
