Business System Analyst

Columbia College Chicago a private urban institution of over 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students, four-year College offering a distinctive curriculum that blends liberal arts, creative and media arts and business is currently searching for a Business System Analyst in Enrollment Admissions.


Reporting to the Director of Enrollment and Data, the Business System Analyst is part of the enrollment systems team that supports Admissions and the College in the development and maintenance of the Admissions CRM System (Slate) and business processes.

The role is responsible for creating, testing, automating processes and executing technical functionality with the CRM.

This position will provide technical support to CRM users to ensure that the application meets their needs and keeps pace with changes in operations, policies and procedures.

The Analyst will work closely with the offices of the Registrar, Student Financial Services, Housing and academic departments to aid the continuous integration of the recruitment, admissions, financial aid and enrollment functions into the system.

Develop and maintain CRM functionality and organization.

Perform software maintenance, enhancements, configurations, and integrations with various systems, necessary to ensure reliable business workflow in the CRM environment.

Test system changes and developments.
Provide daily technical support for CRM users, including administration of user accounts and security.

Troubleshoot issues, provide recommendations and implement solutions.

Log identified system problems and track through resolution.
Provide system delivered and custom reports, including such involving custom SQL, to CRM users.
Extract data from the CRM system to support marketing campaigns and assists with creation and deployment of communication campaigns within Slate (email and print).
Provide user documentation and train new and existing users, including Admissions Officers, on how to use the system and on new/updated features and processes.
Effectively communicate system updates and changes to users and stakeholders.
Create and maintain documentation on processes, policies, application configuration and help/train related materials for users as database applications are developed.

Continually refine user experience and ensure processes and integrations are efficient.
Identify ways to effectively streamline and centralize recruitment efforts across campus.
Collect feedback on process performance, monitor, and measure the effectiveness of processes to ensure consistent value delivery.
Identify and recommend improvements in business practices and procedures to maximize efficiency.
Keep abreast of new system features and functionality and provide recommendations for process improvements.
Act as a liaison between Enrollment Management and various offices across campus.
Facilitate meetings and follow up with action items.
Perform annual system updates on admission applications and review processes.
Perform other related duties and/or responsibilities as assigned or required.
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information technology, web technology, or a related field preferred or equivalent technical experience in business process and systems development.
Three to five years of experience analyzing business data (user requirements, procedures, workflows, etc.) to implement and improve computer systems, preferably in Higher Education-Admissions.
Slate CRM experience
– configuring, testing, documenting and supporting the CRM
– preferred.
Intermediate experience with data structures and data management competencies.
Knowledge in the following areas is required: SQL, systems/technology integration, spreadsheets, database applications, programming/scripting, html, xml, and other web technologies.
Analytical and solution driven.
Excellent attention to detail.
Able to recognize the potential consequences or implications of ideas and decisions.
Self-motived and able to work with minimal supervision.
Able to respond to issues and complete projects within the expected timeframe in a constantly changing and busy environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal, including technical writing, skills.
Ability to effectively partner with campus offices in a team environment.
Proven ability and initiative to learn and research new concepts, ideas, and technologies quickly.
Customer service oriented.
Understanding of Higher Education processes, specifically Enrollment Management and Admissions.
Able to create graphic illustrations to capture interrelationships and connections.
