Pharmacy Technician

This is a Full-time position in Taylorville, IL posted June 7, 2021.

Assists the Registered pharmacist in processing medical orders to patients/customers of all ages, according to the regulations of the Illinois Pharmacy Practice Act.

High School Graduate or equivalent education preferred.

Pharmacy Technician Licensure in the State of Illinois required.

Must obtain Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 2 years of licensure, when Illinois Pharmacy Technician license obtained after 1-1-08.

Previous experience preferred.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Willingness to perform routine repetitive tasks on a continuous basis required.

Basic knowledge of simple laboratory procedures.

Performs the automated dispensing fill on a daily basis for patients/customers of all ages.

Prepares IV admixtures for inpatients using aseptic techniques.

Replenishes floor stock promptly and accurately.

Delivers IV’s and unit dose medications to patient care areas.

Medications for discharged patients are removed.

Properly records items in the purchasing system for those items that are low in supply.

Drug supplies are ordered in a timely manner with the assistance of the manager.

Processes employee OTC orders.

Inspects pharmacy storage areas quarterly and rotates and/or removes all outdated drugss Prints and distributes daily lists and reports from the computer.

Maintains integrity of controlled substance system.

Update patient profile records and database.

Assists in the training of new employees.

Completes required continuing education requirements for Technician Certification and license.

Promotes health and safety in the work environment.

Actively participates in competency assessment process.

Performs other job related duties as assigned.
