Counselor-Behavioral Health – BH Addiction Svcs OP  – Full-Time,Day, Behavioral Health – Melrose Park,IL

Shift: Monday, Tuesday, and Friday 8:30a-630p; Wednesday 12p-1030p; Thursday-off; plus 5-6 after hour on call shifts a month between the 9p/8a hours.

*****This role is a police crisis worker with our area police depts.

What You Will Do

As an Associate with AMITA Health, you will have the opportunity to provides behavioral health counseling services.


  • Conducts patient assessments and establishes therapy treatment goals.
  • Administers individual and group therapy.
  • Maintains thorough and confidential records of observations.
  • Evaluates progress and effectiveness of therapy interventions.
  • Provides patient with information regarding resources and therapeutic activities in the community.
  • Works directly with the patient, family, physician and community providers to ensure active and collaborate care from the initiation of treatment to the time of discharge.

What You Will Need


  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science, Social Science, or Psychology required
  • Master’s in social work, counseling, or related field highly needed

Work Experience:

  • Will complete assessment for hospitalization as well as completing follow ups with residents who are referred by local law enforcement, fire, and village staff to the crisis worker for follow up services
  • Experience with assessing patients who have a mental illness.
  • Experience working with individuals with a mental illness and working in collaboration with community providers.
