Electrical Engineer III

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our MEP Group based in one of our Illinois offices (Chicago, Oakbrook Terrace or Champaign). This position is eligible for remote work with weekly in-office collaboration time.

Responsibilities include planning, design and development of bid packages for electrical and mechanical building systems. Experience with municipal facilities (water & wastewater) as well as lighting design and building control systems are desirable. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Performs site survey and data collection to verify and document existing conditions.
  • Performs low level design tasks for electrical phase of MEP and Civil/Environmental projects.
  • Applies engineering principals to develop and test power distribution models and loads.
  • Performs calculations, selects equipment, coordinates drawings and develops bid documents.
  • Verifies conditions of existing equipment in the field and prepares technical reports as needed.
  • Coordinates with other team members across offices and disciplines to complete projects.

Position Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (EE emphasis) and EIT are required; Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license is desired.  
  • 5+ years of experience with facility design including one or more of the following: low voltage distribution, power systems, building control systems and lighting design.
  • Proficient with the following design and modeling tools; AutoCAD, SKM Powertools, Revit and MS Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop reports and make presentations.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
